Gekko Iba

Shooting from the platform
The Gekko ("Moon Tiger") Iba is located in Ojai, California.
Practice is led by instructor Mark Garabrant.

The name has changed from Gekko Kyudojo to Gekko Iba.
Shibata Sensei has chosen to eliminate the word "dojo" for all of his practice places
in favor of "iba", a more traditional term and one that his grandfather used.
It is short for iru basho or, "shooting place."
(represented by a different character, iru can also be read with the meaning "to be", or "to exist",
so it is also "a place to be")

Gekko Iba holds regulary scheduled practice once a week in Ojai,
and usually has a one-day intensive practice once a month.
